Hubby has left for work and I'm thinking about where Teresa is taking us ladies today as its a secret. I love it when I don't know where I'm going. Teresa did tell me that I need to make sure I wear good walking shoes. Can't wait to see where our adventure will lead us to. I am loving my stay over here in Japan and will miss my friends a lot. Have to meet the ladies over on the other side of the train station at 9am....
WOW the place is awesome, there is a big bridge going over the Daiya River and we are heading down a path to walk along the river. Once we reach the path it is flooded in; no problem we will just take the high road after a few Kodak moments here by the river.
Teresa is guiding us to another location she is excited about showing us. We start walking down the road leading which will lead us to the secret location. Along the way took a few shots of some cosmos that are growing wild everywhere right now. They are very pretty flowers.
As we approach the entrance to see Kanman~ga~fuchi (Daiya River)and the Jinzo statues the path leading in is a beautifully landscaped with trees that are in the process of changing colors.
The Main Gate of Shiunji Temple
The beauty of this location is phenomenal and pictures will never show the beauty and sounds of the river. I will try to show you some of what we seen. Story goes that in 1920 there were 100 jizu statues but a flood wiped out 30 of them leaving 70. Now there is a flood gate that prevents that from ever happening again.
The 30 jizu statues destroyed by 1920 flood.
Flood gates protect the statues from damage.........
This place is so amazing, I'm so lucky to have a friend that knew about this location to bring us in Nikko. Thank you Teresa for bringing us ladies to such a spectacular sight.
The Daiya river is so powerful and has the most blueish green water I have ever seen. The view with a touch of Autumn trying to burst out was breathtaking. This location to me is a must see in Nikko, the view is something you will never forget.
It is custom to place a rock on the jizu statue to show you were there.
Fall is on its way here leaves are just starting to change. I took a couple of shots before leaving this magnificent location of Autumn.
We are going into Nikko City to eat and shop. Our walk down the streets of Nikko were somewhat crowded as lots of foreigners were roaming the streets. Talked with a gentleman from Ripley, Ohio, he couldn't believe it when I told him I knew exactly where it was. I was born in Adams County, West Union, Ohio which is not far from Ripley. We ate lunch at a nice place that had good food and then started off down the street again to shop the other side. I love the cosmo's along the streets they are just so beautiful.
On the side of a building a lady in a kimono had been painted, thought I would share this with you also.
Now the best store we went in was the Dragon Store. A lady who paints dragons painted one in front of us as we watched. Wow what a talented person she is, so artist with the many different types of brushes she uses to paint with. What an honor to watch her paint.
I have used up all my space allotted to me to show any more pictures.....On the way back to Utsunomiyia Teresa took us ladies to a cracker factory. This place had beautiful grounds to walk on. We took a path that lead back to a giant water wheel. I am so enjoying exploring Japan with such wonderful friends, thanks again Teresa, Deb and Sue for being wonderful friends.
I had a wonderful time as well. I couldn't even remember how beautiful it was there. I was there one time in March the last time I was here and maybe it was just not as clear but I truely loved seeing this river. Donna you have been such a pleasure to take on our outings. Sue and Debbie and I will truely miss you alot when you go back to Ohio. See you soon. Love you Teresa
