The tray on the right I gave to Yamaguchi (tea sensei). I loved this the minute I saw it in Berlin, Ohio. It is handmade by Amish with a hammer. Each item they make they put their trademark in it, which is a spider. It is not easy to find.
I attended a practice tea ceremony with Teresa today and it was very enjoyable. There were 3 people today as guest, 2 men and me. We were each served green tea and a sweet during the ceremony. I will forever be honored with getting to be their guests. :-)
The group of ladies are practicing for the big international festival that is going to be held on Oct. 2 International Festival here in Utsunomiya at the Childrens Science Musuem this Saturday Oct 2nd from 10 to 3. Many countries will be set up to share their country culture with you. Food, arts and crafts and more.
Deb and Sue waiting for the start of the kimono class.
All kimono's are always stored very neatly in a paper~like package.
First step is to pick the right color hair accessory, Yamaguchi is looking for it in her big box of hair accessories.
Now let's get the hair put up!! She tried several times to get my hair up, finally she figured out just the right way. My hair is short which made it hard to put up.
Hair is up and now its time to put on the underwear that go under the kimono and then the kimono on top of that. Underwear are just a thin kimono type fabric you wear to keep the actual kimono off your skin.
Now the hard part getting all the belts, bands etc. wrapped around my waist and every little crease just perfect. There is a total of 9 belts tightly put around your waist. VERY TIGHTLY I think I lost 3 inches by the time she was done with all the belts and elastic bands.

You look very beautiful in full Kimono. I am glad you were able to attend our practice. The ladies enjoyed having you with us. I am very honored to have been invited to join the Tea Members of Yamaguchi sensei. I feel like it is an awesome Japanese experience. Hope you have a wonderful weekend in Tokyo. Love you Teresa
