Today JL feels bad and BB is laying around......now 2 sick kids. Medicine was given to both of them. After some rest we packed lunches, and loaded up in the van. We are now headed out to Paramount Ranch to take a hike. Seamus went with us too :-) From what I've read many movies have been shot at this location. Dr. Quinn, medicine woman, The Maid of Salem, The Adventures of Marco Polo, Wells Fargo and many others. The place is set in the valley of the Santa Monica Mountains.
When we arrived there was a building where a park ranger was inside handing out some trail maps. The adventure is about to begin down the trail leading to the Paramount Ranch. Before we even got to the actual trail
The trail led us right into a town set up to shoot movies.
Grandkids did some climbing up some pretty big hills along the way.
The view from the trail was magnificent. The Santa Monica mountains look so tall from the bottom of the trails.
After lunch my knee was killing me and BB was feeling pretty sick. BB and I went with Marlon using him as our guide. We chose the path of the Medicine woman trail which was shorter. Audy, Mason, JL and Seamus took the longer path which led up high on the Santa Monica Mountain and back down to the lot where we started this hike.
We each went our separate ways, they took the high road.
BB and I took the low road.
IN and OUT Burger is a drive through that all the meat is fresh and never frozen. The potatoes are peeled and cut into fries and made fresh per order. I loved their paper hats they wear and ask if I could have one. The guy that waited on us started looking for a hat for me. Next thing I know I'm getting 2 of those hats and gave them to the boys. BB did not want one.

Mason right away started looking for a walking stick. Once he had that away he was all ready to get this adventure started.
It was fun walking up on the porches of the sets and acting out some characters in the movies.
We were lucky Marlon had a nice back pack that was insulated. Lunch had been packed and we were looking for a spot to set down for some lunch. It was great and totally unexpected when we saw a sign that said picnic area. One by one we made our way up the hill and found a shaded spot with one picnic table. I'm still in shock that we found the picnic area and no one was there which was so lucky for all of us. Together we passed out the food and drink and enjoyed lunch together.

We could see them travel up the side of the mountain and wave down at us.
The hike is over and everyone is back in the van. On the way back to the house we stopped and got some sparkling apple cider for everyone to ring in Ohio's New Year which here in LA is 9pm.
We are all getting hungry and tonight is New Years Eve so thought we would end our day. Audy suggested that we stop at In and Out Burger and the kids were excited to hear that. We are all wanting to try this place that we have heard so much about.

Audy did the ordering for the kids and her. She ordered JL and 4 X 4 and Mason and Audy got a double double. BB ordered a single. Fries were ordered for each of them with a special sauce they apply to there burgers and fries.

The kids ate all of their burgers and fries. Good call by Audy they loved them.
Marlon and I left Audys and went and found Greg who was having drinks at a British pub called the White Harte. http://www.whitehartepub.com/ As soon as we got there Greg introduced us to his friends and then he left to go be with Audy. We had great conversations with his friends then they left and we went and sat at the bar. Ordered our dinner and watched the NY ball drop on TV. Happy New Years friends and family....
