Kanman-ga-fuchi Abyss Falls Japan~Surprise adventure by my BFF Teresa

Kanmangafuchi Abyss was formed by an eruption of nearby Mount Nantai. This gorge near central Nikko is only a few hundred meters long and can be enjoyed from walking trail.
Kanmangafuchi also has about 70 stone statues of Jizo, a Bodhisattva who cares for the deceased. This particular group of Jizo statues is alternately called "Bake Jizo" (Ghost Jizo), "Narabi Jizo" (Jizo in a line) or "Hyaku Jizo" (100 Jizo). The statues look out over the river and across to the Nikko Botanical Garden, but the botanical garden cannot be entered from the abyss.  The address is Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture 321-1415, Japan.  My friend Teresa picked us up at the hotel and surprised us with this beautiful place in Nikko.  It is beautiful and majestic as we walked down the walking path.  I think this is one of the most wonderful places  I have ever been to.  So much forest, and statues with bright red hats.  As you walk you can hear the sound of the water flowing down a river with all its power forcing you to almost be in a trance as you watch the beauty of nature.  There were stones that people had balanced on rocks and stacks of rocks that people had also put out there along the river to show they have been here.  Teresa, Marlon and I left our mark with a stack of rocks also.  Oh, Teresa what a wonderful way to end our last day in Japan.
