FALLINGWATER Home in Pennsylvania - Is a Must See

Fallingwater is a home built by local craft people and the architect was Frank Lloyd Wright.  It was designed in 1935 for Edgar J Kaufmann's family. They were owners of Pittsburgh's largest department store. This house was built as their weekend house. This house is listed on Smithsonian's "Life List of 28 places to See Before You Die".

In the parking lot were beautiful flowers and butterflies were everywhere. Sorry for the overload but they were so pretty.
Information in the museum about the building of Fallingwater.  Including information on Frank Lloyd Wright the architect.
We met up with the tour guide and on our way down the walkway through the woods to the house. As of this point, I have no idea what to expect. Upon my arrival, I was stunned when I saw the house.

It is built partly over a waterfall on Bear Run in the Mill Run section of Stewart Township, Fayette County Pennsylvania.

Before entering the home in 1935 Liliane Kaufmann required you to wash your hands and feet before entering the home.  There was always a bar of soap hanging on the wall.
Swimming pool outside Liliane's bedroom.
Lots of artwork throughout the house.

Check out how the windows open.......
Our guided tour was worth its weight in knowledge.  Look at those stairs with the stairstep hand rail

On the first floor we were allowed to take photos inside the house.

The guest cottage

Walking down trail to get a shot of the house from another angle.

Lunch at a local establishment called Summit Diner!  So very impressed with their delicious food and décor.  Happy we found this out of the way place.
