Cinco de Mayo Progressive Dinner

Theme for this Progressive Dinner is Cinco De Mayo.
1439
Start time for this Progressive Dinner is 3pm.
1st stop of the night for appetizers & drink is at Casa de McQuay.  As we entered we were greeted with a few friends (Mary B, Jim & Donna) that were already there.  I loved the menu that was set out to show what we were having at Karen's house.

We had all made aprons which were given to  The Double D's to paint and wear during the stops at your house tonight. Karen and Mary thank you for such a thoughtful gift.  Each person painted something on their aprons at Karen's house days before this dinner. Donna A was not available to paint hers so Donna C painted for her. :-)
Karen is busy in the kitchen making our Mexican Sunset  drinks.

This drink was very delicious and after drinking just half of the glass, I was feeling the effects of this drink.  This is a sneaky drink because you can't taste the alcohol but can really feel the effects. LOL
The appetizers were delicious and some of the sauces were on the hot side of taste.

We are spending about one hour at each house and enjoying our friends. Time for Marlon and Donna to leave a little early to prepare for everyone to come to their home.

Karen had added our food items to the  menu and we had it setting out for all to see. Friends are now arriving at :

Table setting
First thing to get this dinner started is tequila SHOTS.  Donna C is learning how to drink tequila shots.  The ladies explain the art of drinking tequila SHOTS to Donna.
  1. Lick the skin between your thumb and forefinger or the back of your hand.
  2. Sprinkle a small pinch of salt onto the area
  3. Hold one slice of lime/lemon with your thumb and index finger, using the same hand that contains the salt. Breathe out, lick the salt, down your tequila shot and bite the lime.
  4. Lick-drink-suck

The slams of tequila shots have started.  Donna A leads us in tequila shots.

Some laughter after some tequila shots.
Marlon is dishing up everyone some of his famous  chicken tortilla soup.

Sour cream, avocado, tortilla strips added to soup.....equals yummy

Ready to sit down and enjoy some delicious soup and strawberry water.
Jim & Donna have left early because their home is next stop on this progressive dinner.  Marlon & Donna are taking the pinata burrow to the next dinner stop.

One last stop on the Progressive Dinner Route.  Pinata burrow is in tow to head to the next location.

Mary's painted apron.
Mary is making a special Mexican drink called carajillo, the drink is layered first with licor 43 and then adding espresso on top.

Another surprise is this delicious HOMEMADE cake.  This is the first time all of us have seen this kind of cake. From what I remember Mary said the top part of cake is flan and the bottom part is cake.  Put them together and what do we have?
