Happy 15th Wedding Anniversary Celebrating in Lake Placid, NY

Breakfast at the Waters Edge Inn before taking off to our next destination which is Lake Placid, NY. On the way, we stopped a few times so I could capture some of the views. Which by the way seems to be a long way between points A and B.   Saw a group of wild turkeys. Marlon pulled over so we take their pictures.

Take a look at this roaring, rushing waterfall.  The water is so muddy because we had hard rain last night.

Well, my breakfast has worn off and I'm glad we have come into the town of Lake Saranac, NY. The town was very charming and friendly.  Lots of people sitting outside at the coffee shops, streets of places to shop and eat.  We chose a place called Blue Moon Café and are so glad we did.  Lots of locals enjoyed breakfast and some were eating lunch.  The coffee is self-serve, which I like.  I don't want to forget to mention all the food is homemade.  We ordered a cheddar bacon jalapeño soup and got the last 2  bowls. Happy we ordered the soup as it was super delicious.  Time for some shopping and an iced coffee for the road.

During our exploration of downtown Lake Saranac, we walked into a place that talked about the loons which are ducks.  We have been trying to spot them since we arrived in NY.  We were told to check out at Lake Clear where they have often been spotted.  We drove out there and walked down a beautiful path to the lake but no loons were in sight.

Lake Saranac also houses The Union Station.  It was closed when we arrived and I'm pretty sure it is closed for good. Saranac Lake Union Depot is a former NY Central Railroad station.  It was built in 1904 by the Delaware and Hudson Railway.

Next door to the Union station was the Adirondack Carousel.  The website shows they are open but this is not the case.  The building was locked so you could not ride on the carousel.  So sad as lots of kids were playing on the playground equipment out front since they weren't able to ride.  We did get a couple pictures through the window.  From what I read the animals on the carousel were hand carved by local artists.
We are starting to see Fall foliage here in the Adirondacks.  All the beautiful fall colors are breathtaking.
Yeah, we have arrived in Lake Placid, NY.  This town is amazing and has hosted the Olympics 2 times, in 1932 and again in 1980. I think we have the most amazing view of the lake and mountains from our hotel. Can't wait to try out the jetted bath.  I mean it is our wedding anniversary weekend.
Went to the grocery store to stock up on supplies for our stay here in Lake Placid.  Look what Oreo has come out with.
We are settled in now and its time for dinner.  It is raining so thank goodness we brought an umbrella with us.  Walked down to the best BBQ place in town and enjoyed the view from inside.  We were seated next to the huge windows so we could see the lake and mountains.  Good beer and the best-smoked BBQ wings ever.

Will Be Coming Down The Mountain When We Come.........

Still smokey outside from the fires in CA. Sunrise is still beautiful.  Sipping on my coffee in front of the fireplace. :-)

It warms up fast here in the mountains.  Today the ski lifts are open for scenic rides up to the summit of Whitefish Mountain.  I have never been on a ski lift as I don't ski.  This is a big step for me, I'm a little worried about getting on and off the chairs.

We decided to take the small ski lift down to Base Lodge for lunch and coffee.  The guys made sure we were on safe talking to us the entire time where to stand for the chair to catch us in the back of the legs and sit down.  We pulled the bar over us. :-)  We enjoyed our lunch and sipped coffee watching all the activities going on.  We are going to the top of this mountain and after that we are going to go on the Alpine Slide.
We are ready to go back up the small section of this mountain and catch the next ski lift to the summit.

We are on the chair lift to the top now and the view is stunning.  The views of Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park are amazing.
We watched several bikers take the trek down the mountain.  They are brave!

Some views of our ski lift ride back down Whitefish Mountain.

Time to head to the Alpine Slide.  We can do this!! The guys in charge gave us instructions on how to start AND STOP THE SLIDE.

We are on the slide and ready to take off.  I'm a little nervous as this is my first time doing this also.

Well, it's time for dinner and we are going into town to try out the local BBQ place.

Good Nnight from Whitefish Montana
