Japanese Garden 2018

Went to breakfast at Blu Jam Cafe.  The food was absolutely delicious.

I'm happy to go to Japanese Gardens.  The camera is also ready with fresh battery and SD card. We have arrived at :
6100 Woodley Ave, Van Nuys, CA 91406
Picture of the 3 of us at the gardens.
Hi, just taking some time out of the sun.
The walkways were lined with Bamboo bent to the contour of the sidewalk.
The trellis below will be full of wisteria within the next few months.  I'm sure it would be a beautiful sight to see.
So many varieties of bamboo throughout the gardens.
Isn't this just a lovely view?
4 different lanterns throughout the garden.
Snow viewing lantern. The large top on it is to collect snow to keep it from falling in the lightbox area.  Its almost always place near open, reflective water.
Wet Heron lantern-The canopy of this tall, six-sided lantern is bell-shaped and the lightbox has a carving of a heron, which is the symbol of long life.
Daikoku Lantern-  This lantern has Daikoku standing o bales of rice with a rat perched alongside him.  Rats syobolize the presence of wealth and excess

Kasuga Lantern-   A dear is carved on the side.  Deer are regarded as divine messengers of peace and good fortune.

Garden view from the tea house.

Saw this humming bird up high in a tree, did get a very good shot but here he is. :-)
Used different settings on the camera, to obtain the flowing waters.
Lots of cherry blossom trees starting to bloom through the gardens.

Boardwalk through a water iris garden.  Loved it!
Water iris garden.
Look at the neat view threw the support tresses of the bridge.
Beautiful Japanese house by the water.
Nice view of the gardens from the towers.

Baby ducks swimming around the pond.

Bottoms up LOL
More cherry blossom trees. Many bees are helping themselves to the sweet pollen in the flowers.
Some of the trees needed help in their old age.
Thank you to Nagoya for the beautiful trees you donated.
