Lake Placid NY BBQ and Music Festival

Met this lady who was selling herbs and jellies at the festival.  She went with us to get some buck a rib and vote for the best.  Come to find out the one we all choose had bought her apple rub/jelly and added it to their already done ribs.  We actually thought they were the best of all the others.

Adirondack Railroad Bike Adventure in Old Forge, NY

Driving around and saw this train station. Decided to stop and check it out.  We were amazed to find out that we could ride the rail on their bikes.  We made arrangements to come back later and ride the rail.

When we purchased our tickets the train station was also a museum and gift shop.
This place of 30k-40 rooms was once a thriving business and worked great with the railroad company.  A train trip from Utica to Old Forge where they would spend the night and then be taken into town to shop and eat. The could also just relax at the bar and enjoy an amazing dinner.  The chef was amazing as the bartender who made the drinks.  It's known to always be full until a death in the family which caused a scabble in the family wanting the money.  The place has been on the market for 3 years and is $80,000.  Since it's been on the market I'm sure they would take less. Hope they get a buy to invest.
Pedaling the bike on the rail.

Graveyard of non-working railroad crossing lights.

1/2 way done! Time to get off the bike on the rail so they could turn it around and we could pedal back to the train station.  We ended up riding with another couple to help them out. They struggled to get to the point to turn around.  She had cancer and had just finished chemo.  This was way too much for her to do.  She looked awful and he could not pedal them both with out help.  We were happy to help them out.

The train station is now put in new rails from Utica NY to Lake Placid. They are starting a fall tour which will include an overnight stay.  They also are doing a Polar Express.  So much is happening here in the Adirondacks.
Just another building close by that caught my eye.

Proud to say we completed the bike the rail adventure.  We are tired don't get me wrong it was not a piece of cake.

Hot, tired and hungry LOL

McCauley Mountain Ski Lift in NY

Marlon surprised me with an early morning drive to McCauley Mountain, NY.

By 9:30am we were on the ski lift and going to the top of the mountain.

We sat in some Adirondack chairs located on the side of the ski lift where we got off at the top.

Enjoying sitting in the chairs and looking at all the trees trying to turn fall.  I can see all the yellow.
Awe look at this beautiful view. Having a great time with the love of my life.  I know I have not mentioned COVID.  The after-effects are not nice to our bodies.  Fighting to keep ourselves healthy enough to not want to go home.  Sometimes the effects make us feel so tired, and our stomach hurts on and off. I think the stomach pains are from the meds we took which were 3 huge pills 2 times a day for 5 days.

Love some of the fall colors up here the reds, oranges, and yellows.

Husband enjoying the view from the top of McCauley Mountain.

Checking out the ski slope.

Break time from exploring

Time to head back down the mountain on the ski life.  I have so enjoyed this time on the mountain.

Corning NY Museum and Downtown Shopping

Entering NY, yeah so happy to see this state and explore all that it has to offer.
Stopped in a little town on the lake and found this old Railway Depot.  I was shocked when I noticed the name of the town was Urbana, NY.  I KNOW Urbana Ohio WELL.
I can see the area of Watkins Glen. Excited to get there and explore.
Upon our arrival in the town, the place was so packed you couldn't even find a spot to park.  It was extremely crowded and did not look fun to me.
Decided to find our hotel and take off to Corning museum.  The museum was closed but the shop was not.  Explored the shop and saw many things I WOULD love to have.  I did get some glass fusion ideas. ;-0

Love the downtown area.  Visited many shops and was especially fond of this one.  Various types of glass techniques are displayed and for sale in this shop.

When I saw the face on the side of this building I smiled really big.  funny face
Well, it's time for some food we are both hungry and thirsty.  Found this brewery called Griest Brewing Company on the main street and am happy we did.  We sat on the 2nd floor and by the windows.  Ordered me a locally made IPA.
We ordered a Reuben and chips to split and a Reuben macaroni and cheese.  Did I say delicious?  Oh so good, when you put your spoon in to get a bite the cheese stretches so you know it's going to be great.
