Tomomi picked us up down the street from Keiko's house. We were so happy to see her. We got in her car and were on our way to pick up a couple that she works with at Honda. We now have new friends Fatumah and Pieric from France. We are on our way to another friend's house named Yu who lives in Karasuyama. This is the location where the fireworks and festival will take place.
Our arrival at Yu's house was wonderful. We were greeted at the door and welcomed with a table of full of food and drink.
Yu's family makes plum wine. We tried wines made in 2010, 2013 and 2016. They started a new jug for 2019.
Kanpai (cheers) with new friends here in Karasuyama. There were 4 generations there tonight.Fatumah is from France and now lives in Japan. She works with Tomomi at Honda. Fatumah said she has tried 5 times to make crepes and failed, but finally, they came out good and boy were they delicious!
Yu's grandfather is 90 years old and still so very healthy. I just think he is so handsome. Enjoyed visiting with him.
We heard fireworks outside and we all took off to go and watch. They started exactly at 6pm. It was so much fun enjoying time with everyone as we watched the beauty of the colorful fireworks bursting in the sky.
After the fireworks, we went down to the festival and walked around. Then back to Yu's house for some more hot sake. The wind kept the smoke away which made the fireworks so much prettier. This town seems to be surrounded by mountains. As each firework went off you could hear them echo off the mountains. Below was one of my favorites. The show lasted 45 minutes but we were told one of the best shows lasts for 3 hours! That's a lot of fireworks. I would have a stiff neck before the show was over.
