Descanso Gardens

1418 Descanso Drive, La Canada Flintridge, CA. Gardens open daily from 9am to 5 pm. Admission for adults is $9 and $4 for children. Ready to enter the gardens.

So many beautiful flowers at the Descanso Gardens. This is an amazing place.The word Descanso means place of rest in Spanish. It is spring here and this time of year is tulips,

lilacs, (This area is so fragrant and it has more that 400 plants featuring 250 different lilacs)

cherry trees, (part of the Japanese gardens)

daffodils,

azaleas,

camellias, (This garden houses the largest collection which includes familiar and rare.)

California native plants, These colorful, carefree plants are perfectly suited to CA climate.

wildflowers,

wisteria

and roses. The rose garden has more than 3,000 roses that represent centuries of horticultural history and dozens of regions from around the world.

The gardens here are a must see. The first place we visited in the gardens was the Japanese Gardens. My breath was taken away with the beauty that was within. Marlon and Audrey at the entrance to the Japanese gardens.

We did some bird watching while visiting the gardens.

Ancient Forrest consisted of many different kinds of ferns and redwoods, cycads including some rare and endangered species.

The way this ferns leaves hang down reminds me of origami cranes.

Talk about some ancient trees look at the trees in this picture. They look ancient and also to me looks like an entrance to an enchanted forest.

This trail is all up a hill as we head towards the next destination to view the California Natives.

Once at the top, we saw a resting area. I like the hand railing leading up to the rest area.

Beautiful view of the Santa Monica Mountains.

Now lets finish this walk up the hill and find the flowers that are native to California.

Entering the rose garden this song came to mind.

I could promise you things like big diamond rings but you don't find roses growing on stalks of clover. So you better think it over Well, if sweet talking you could make it come true I would give you the world right now on a silver platter But what would it matter So smile for a while and let's be jolly love shouldn't be so melancholy Come along and share the times while we can.
