Many birds and ducks out tonight as we toured around the golf courses along the marsh.  We were in awe at the wildlife around The Villages Florida.  This is truly a great place to live.

Spring is Here -Sand hill Crain Babies are being born 2018

The first bird we saw on our Sunday cruise tonight in the golf cart was a Sandhill Crane.  Its spring and there are lots of babies being born.  A little information about the sandhill crane is that when they mate it's for life.  They choose their partners based on dancing abilities.  When they dance they stretch their wings, pump their head s, bow and then leap into the air.  Females usually lay 2 eggs, only one nestling typically survives.  Mated pairs of Sandhill Cranes are mates and their juvenile offspring stay together until they are 9-10 months old.

Flagler College Tour and History

What an amazing college with so much history in St. Augustine FL.  The group of us loved touring around the college which has so many photo opportunities.  The Ponce de Leon hotel built in the 1800's which has had presidents and many famous people as guests, was wired for electricity with the power being supplied by generators supplied by Flagler's friend, Thomas Edison. When electricity was first put in Henry M. Flagler hired staff to turn power on and off for his residents, because the people staying at the hotel were too afraid to turn the switches on and off as very few people had electricity back then. It also has the oldest clock in the United States which was gifted to Flagler by Thomas Edison you will witness the largest collection of Tiffany stained glass in the world, as Tiffany was responsible for the interior design of the hotel.  former hotel is now Flagler College, with the students presenting the tours.
