Day 3 Shopping in Japan 2010

Day 3 Spending the Day with Belinda

My day started at 4am when both my husband and I could not sleep. Once up we made some coffee and got out our french pastries. Talk about delicious, one was a chocolate pastry and one was a pastry with pears. Wow so so so good, and with the Kenya coffee wow is all I can say. : -)

Worked on computer this morning downloading and updating my notes and blog pages. Before long hubby had left for work to catch the bus and I got ready for the day.

Belinda contacted me and she had already been out jogging to some temple that was about 2 miles from our hotel. I on the other hand was taking it easy this morning catching up with my friend Robin. : -)

I invited Belinda down to my room to look at my pictures from yesterday. After reviewing them with her, I will send to her so she can have what pictures she wants. She will share hers with me. We each took pictures of different items. : -)

I told her about going to the Buddha the 3 soybeans and she wanted to go. I remembered most of the way there. We did walk alot to actually find the Buddha again. While looking for the Buddha we found a cemetery. Have many questions about their customs so I will have to do some research about certain things they do in a cemetery. Example the graves all have a statue with a glass sitting in the middle of it. What is the significance of this glass? Beside the statues there are long wooden thin boards with writing on them, what are they for?
Left the cemetery and finally found the Buddha of the 3 soybeans. Showed Belinda around and explained the meaning of significance of the 3 soybeans. Back tracked and then made our way across the bridge to the other side of the river.

The cherry blossoms were really starting to pop and boy are they beautiful. Decided to head back across the river to our side and head up to Starbucks for some coffee. Once we finally reached Starbucks, i got a sukura frapachino and boy was it good. Belinda and I sat down and enjoyed looking out the window watching the people and buses go by.

Finished our drinks and shopped in the mall, didn't actually find anything in there everything was so expensive. Started our walk back and stopped at a couple of the fruit, veggie and meat stands along the street. Amazing it was like going to a farmers market and getting the best fruit or veggie available. I am just so impressed by the quality of their fruits and vegetables. Delish!!!!!!!

On our way back to the hotel we saw a van totally packed down with gourds, I'm talking stacked on top and the entire inside was full. So totally unbelievable that they drove
around like this, guess this was their way to haul and well it worked LOL.

We went to the train station to look for some stationary so I can write home. : -) Walking around their are multiple floors in the train station of nothing but shops. After looking through many of them we saw a shop that displayed bras and underwear prettier than VS yes thats right you heard me. Once inside the sizes were not like ours it showed like E76 ? I talked with the lady and ask her to measure us so we can know what size we wear. She measured me and showed me on chart what size I would wear then measured Belinda. Well lets just say she is well endowed and the girl came running out of the dressing room and was shocked at her size. After the 2 girls talked to each other they told us both we are too big no size for us. LOL Now this is the first time in my life I have ever been told I'm too big. Its not the cup size that they can't handle its the width around us LOL Its amazing but American women are so much bigger than Japanese women. They are all so tiny and hardly any breast at all. Tried on some clothes and how about trying to buy a pair of pants in S , M or large? I couldn't even begin to fit in a large. I'm so embarrassed. I got really hot walking around and had to buy a fan to carry with me LOL dag gone hot flashes : -(

I found it very interesting that to save space parking cars they use an elevator to lift cars up into a very tall parking garage. So everything is up to save space Japan is just a small place with lots and lots of people.

Finally found a store to buy some stationary in and we are heading back again to the hotel. When we reached the hotel I saw that we had been walking at least 5 hours I'm beat. Updated my notes and downloaded some pictures. I'm tired think I'll lay down for a nap. : -) Well must have been sleeping pretty good, Marlon rang the doorbell 2 times and I didn't even hear it that's how sound I was sleeping. Wow I can't believe it I woke up in a total fog.

Marlon made me some coffee and I got ready to go eat. Decided we were going to have Yakitori tonight. We went with Scott and the rest of the group went to have Italian food. Now this place we went to was an experience I will never forget. Marlon and Scott ordered to start with young chicken and onion ok that doesn't sound bad. Then they ordered fried onion ok not bad, but then they ordered heart. Now that freaked me out sounds like something I would not even think of eating. By the end of the meal I had eaten some heart and tongue yakitori. I can honestly say it was not bad, I just closed my eyes and ate it. I think the tongue tasted a little like bacon and the heart was chewy with flavor of well can't describe flavor sorry.

Went home and got ready for bed good night my friends enjoy the notes and pictures.
