Day 11 SNOW in Utsunomiyia Japan

Day 11 SNOW OMG Thought I was Done with this white Stuff

by Donna Charles on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 4:17am
Today we have decided to stay at the hotel and get caught up on chores yuck. I have 2 loads of laundry to get done and clean off the top of the desk!!! I know this won't take all day but its also a day to relax which will include a bath powder soak in the tub and listen to some tunes from my computer. Belinda has her laundry done and I'm just now starting mine, shes already soaked in the tub too. I on the other hand am taking a much slower approach to the day. ; -)

I got one load of laundry finally washed and have decided to hang it up on hangers I bought at the dollar store. The dryers do not work very well 30 minutes for a $1 does nothing, neither does $2 for an hour. If you put in maybe 3 silk items I'm sure they would dry but you see all my things are not silk..............I went down to the lobby to get a $5 coin turned into 5 $1 coins for the washer, as I turned around to head towards the elevator my eye caught a glimpse of snow. Oh NO can't be not snow. Yeppers we are having snow flurries and the temp is freezing great I am so sick of snow. I honestly thought when I traveled 1/2 way around the world I would not see any more snow for the rest of the winter. NOT.......... Marlon emailed me from work and told me they are sending the guys home a little early due to the roads getting icy. OMG I can't believe that, when does Honda shut down for a little bad weather. I guess they do not have salt trucks to keep the roads clear but wow. Totally floors me.!!

Any hoo, my things are hanging in my room to dry and at 1pm I am going to meet Belinda in the lobby. We decided yesterday that we were going back to the FKD mall and buy stuff to make our hubbies dinner. Today is just a good a day as any to do this.

Met Belinda in the lobby at 1pm and we headed out the door with our umbrellas up to keep from getting snowed on. Made our way to bus station and just like always the bus is right on schedule. On the bus now and headed for the mall, seems to me the bus is having no troubles getting around but oh well we are pulling into the mall right now.

This mall's grocery stores has lots and lots of prepared foods. We took alot of time looking around trying to make a decision on what to buy for dinner. Started out with buying a prepared salad and will just purchase some extra goodies to go on it; like croutons and cheese and also salad dressing. You see this would be much easier shopping if we could read Japanese.

Went over to the many counters of prepared foods, lets see noodles with a variety of things in them, fish, but when the items are deep fried how are we suppose to know what's under that crust??? A very nice lady helped us at one of the counters she spoke pretty good English but after she told us what was in the case we decided to go down to another case and thanked her. Ok now here we are standing again in front of a case of prepared food, I ask a young girl what was in the case she told us and it was chicken and some of the items were pork. Thanked her and tried to make a decision on what was the least risky item to purchase. Well must have been standing there too long again because another lady came up and ask if we needed help. Belinda started asking her about some meat that she thought about buying that is till the lady told her it was horse... Just kidding it was some kind of fish. I then asked her about this dressing that I had at this restaurant that was so good. It was tan in color and was given to us to use on a salad that was thinly sliced cabbage. She took me over to show me where the salad dressings were. After making the choice of deep roasted sesame dressing which another lady had stopped and pointed at it and said it was the best. Its strange man we have had so many people help us today in the grocery which I'm thankful for.

So now for dinner I have chicken on a stick, cheesy potatoes, and fresh salad. For dessert I picked up a container of pineapple, strawberries and kiwi. Time to get out of the store and catch the bus back to La La Square. Heading back to town roads still don't seem to be bad the bus is not sliding around nor is it going at a slow rate of speed. Upon arrival back at La La Square we put our umbrellas up and head towards the hotel. I sure hate this cold weather and snow, its a wonder these people aren't sick all the time. One day sunny, next day cold and rainy, next day cold and snow. Uggg.......

Back at the hotel, put things away in the room and get another load of laundry to start. Laundry is in and now waiting for it to dry. Its 5:30pm and hubby isn't home don't know about the rest of the gang they may be but hes not. Finished up my laundry and I'm impressed the load was actually dry. YEAH.........and yep its still snowing outside.

It's 8:30pm and my hubby is finally home, greeted him at door and gave him a big hug!!! Sure was missing him it was starting to get lonely in this hotel room, thank goodness for facebook to keep my occupied. ; -)
I told him what my plans for dinner was and he was very, very happy, he was tired and said he would enjoy not going out and be able to shower and eat!!! ; -) Well I proceeded to take this great looking salad out of the refrigerator and low and behold it was frozen. That stupid refrigerator, we have turned it down so much. I started to get upset I mean wouldn't you? My life saver was I had bought another salad that we had tried I think its just shredded cabbage. I took it out and it was not frozen, we sampled the dressing and it was great. So Marlon poured us a glass of wine and we ate our salad. I went up to the 2nd floor and heated up the cheesy potatoes and the chicken on a stick. Couldn't read anything on that microwave so i started pushing buttons till it came on. LOL Finally got the food heated and now back down to eat it with Hubby. The chicken was delish and so was the cheesy potatoes which had like a chili on top, its not a combination i would have thought of but was very tasty. I'm saying it was like eating a cheesy baked potato with chili on top. YUM YUM We are both full and happy right now!!! Marlon thanked me for being so thoughtful because he really did not want to have to go back out!! End to a another day in Japan. Will eat the fruit in the morning for breakfast..
