Day 4 of our Trafalgar England Scotland Tour

Breakfast this morning was at 6:30 we were awake so went to eat!  Sat by the window overlooking the mountains!  What a great view.  I did try haggis and actually liked it, it tasted like goetta that’s made in Cincinnati, Ohio.

We are staying in this hotel for 2 nights so no need to hurry and put luggage out for pickup.  ðŸ˜Š  Today’s itenary is be in bus at 8:30 to depart for a city tour by a local guide named Alan which will last 1 1/2 hours.  We have made friends with Phillip and Melanie who sit behind us on the bus.  The guide who joined us on the bus did an amazing job showing us around town.

The Scott Monument in Edinburgh is a Victorian Gothic tower honoring Scottish author Sir Walter Scott, located in Princess Street Gardens. It's the world's largest monument to a writer, featuring a statue of Scott and his dog.

Canon gate  Kirk the Parish of Cannon gate  in Edinburgh Old town, in Scotland.

Greyfriars Bobby (4 May 1855 – 14 January 1872) was a Skye Terrier or Dandie Dinmont Terrier who became known in 19th-century Edinburgh for reportedly spending 14 years guarding the grave of his owner until his death
We elected an optional excursion to see Rosslyn Chapel.   The people that didn’t want to go were dropped off in Edinburgh to explore Royal Mile which is shopping and site seeing!

In town and ready to have lunch.  Phillip and Melanie decided to have lunch with us to.  We picked Victoria’s.  Great decision everyone found something they could eat.

Time to meet the travel guide and make the trek up to Edinburgh Castle

We wanted to see the Crown Jewels stored at  Edinburgh Castle .  What an amazing thing to see!!

During the American War of Independence, the British captured nearly 1,000 American sailors and privateers, holding them in the gloomy vaults of Edinburgh Castle. Because they were considered rebels and pirates, the Americans faced harsh conditions and, to pass the time, took to carving graffiti into the wooden cell doors.

Mason for his pic with the guard of the prison.

we have seen so much and learned so much!  It’s been a great experience for all of us!
Departing for optional excursion " Ceilidh and dinner at the Ghillie Dhu" or evening at leisure.

Band performed and taught us some dance steps.  Marlon and I got up from our table as each table had to send 2 people to the dance floor!
