Colorado Bound

All packed and ready to head out west to Colorado.  We have spent the night at Sherry and Mark's house in Dayton, Ohio.

Drove from Ohio and made our first overnight stay in Kansas City.  Stayed in a very nice Ramada Inn.  It had just started to rain so we stayed at the hotel and had drinks and dinner there.  :-)  Everyone was pretty tired so we called it an early night and went back to our rooms to rest.
Next day Sunday, Sept. 17th,  we are on the road again hoping to make it to our destination which is High Lands Ranch, Colorado.  Our family Ken and Candy are waiting on our arrival today. It was such a nice drive to their house.  Lots of scenery to admire on the way.  I tried to capture some pictures but when you are going 70 mph and trying to snap a picture its a fly by the seat of your pants if any come out.  LOL

                                        Old barns along the way
The road we traveled on was a backcountry road that had a speed limit of 65 mph.  I have never seen a speed limit on back roads more than 55mph.  The road was so straight and at least a 100 miles long.  Now, this is nice traveling speed. :-) We did go up this hill that when we got to the top it looked like we were going to drive into the heavens.  Wow, this is a wonderful road to travel on. I would take Colorado 86 again.  :-)
There have been lots of fires nearby but some of the smoke is clearing and we can see some of the mountains.  Such beauty, thank you, God, for this safe, special trip we are lucky to take.
Mark told me the crops with the pretty red tops are called sorghum.  There were fields and fields of this pretty crop.  With all this flat land, there were also lots of cattle and horses.
As we traveled towards the foothills of Colorado it started to look dark and stormy.  We did get a few sprinkles on us but nothing to worry about. Love this picture of the open prairie-like land and the dark clouds in the background.  You can see the rain coming down from the clouds.

When the rain stopped sprinkling on us there were at least 4 rainbows.
Went to dinner at Parry's Pizza.
