Celebrate the Day..........Gulf Shores AL 2013

Well it's hubby's 60th birthday and I'm up early to make coffee and give Marlon his present.  I gave him his coffee in bed along with his birthday present..........I know he will like his present as its 2 VISA cards that he can spend anyway he likes.
I'm not much of a cook so Marlon made us breakfast which of course was so good. Today we will do whatever Marlon wants to do.  We are starting off the day by taking a walk on the beach. There is nothing more invigorating than walking the beach with the one you love.  Love listening to the ocean, watching the birds fly and then dive in the water for their breakfast.  I also love using my new camera to take photos of the awesome items on the beach.  The weather this morning is finally warmer.
During our walk on the beach I spotted bigfoot bird print in the sand.  Yikes that must be one large bird.
After walking on the beach and then exploring our surroundings its time to exercise and then hit the hot tub. I met some really nice ladies in the exercise room who have been here only 3 days.  They are snow birds who will be here for the next 3 months. It's lunch time and Marlon made us a spinach salad and Rachael Ray Shrimp (my favorite).  We made the decision during lunch to find us a new bicycle path. We chose Back Country Trail~Gulf Oak Ridge path.  Leonard told us this path has only been open for 3 weeks.  We could tell it was new, the grass was just starting to grow along the path.  This bicycle path had such unique surroundings.  Each section of the ride was totally different.  One section was tall pine trees.
The next section told us to beware of alligators crossing.  We did stop here to look at the swampy area to look  for alligators but we didn't spot any.  That silly Marlon tried to throw me over the railings to the alligators even though it said to NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS.
The next section of the trail was my favorite beautiful trees with long mossy things hanging from them.  It was
sorta eerie but interesting to.  Take a look don't you agree the trees are amazing?
We are going to get in 10 miles today on the bikes.  One more section of the trail to complete.  It looks like a swamp with bare trees standing in the water....I enjoyed going over the long bridges through the swamps.

Wow what an amazing bike ride, would love to do this one again before we leave. :-)  Its time to go home and get cleaned up for dinner.  Leonard and Carol and invited us to go to Mellow Mushroom.  This is our first time to eat here.  There is one in Dublin where we live but just never have went.  Tommy's Pizza is our favorite and we hate to be dissappointed by going some place else. Bikes are put away and we are ready to leave for Carols house. We found our way there with no problem.  Upon arrival Carol greeted us at the door and gave Marlon a funny card for his birthday.  All of us got a chuckle reading it.  Leonard and Carol have a cat that they adopted due to someone dropping off a bunch of baby kitties.  This one was left so its the lucky one to have such wonderful people taking care of him.
Leonard has arrived from work and we are on our way to Mellow Mushroom.  Its so nice to have such wonderful friends whom we enjoy spending time with. I ordered a IPA beer called Monkeynaut which turned out to be a very hoppy tasting beer.  It was so good I had 2 LOL. Carol wanted to taste it and her face was definately the bitter beer face.....she gave everyone a laugh.
We had an awesome waitress who had us all sing Happy Birthday to Marlon.  She gave him a big sundae with whipped cream and a calender for his birthday. Great times with good friends.
When we returned back to their house we went for a ride around The Grove to look at Christmas lights.  Great ending to a great night.
